This was an unique opportunity in that I had typically worked on big budget films previously, not that this film was small by any means, it just had a different approach to it. Mainly because it was directed by Darren Aronofsky. Even though we were making a sizable budgeted film with complex and sometimes esoteric designs, Darren kept the momentum going in such a way that it felt personal and intimate and not labored. Working with the Production Designer Nigel Phelps, we were constantly challenged to look at the process from a different point of view.
